31 Days of Tokki’s Trick or Treat 2022
After months of burying myself in crochet projects and gifts, I noticed I was in a way, neglecting my chance to draw. So for the month of October, I felt like it was an opportunistic time to give myself a personal project for the whole month that emulates the likes of the ever popular Art Prompt “Inktober”. As this was my personal project, I never gave out a complete list of what I was expected to draw. But perhaps, next year I will host my own Art Prompt list with hopefully a few other artists from the community for the month of October during spooky season!
In the meantime, here are all 31 days of TokkiWeen in the month of TokkiTober!
To be honest, I was incredibly inspired to draw all of these icons during the month. But like any challenge, I faced a few moments when I was experiencing self doubt on if I can actually push myself to finish the big challenge I set myself up for. I guess my pride got the better of me since I was able to pick myself up and refuse to accept any excuse I was trying to give in order to psyche myself out of succeeding said challenge. Looking back at it now, I’m glad I stuck through it! I learned so much not just about myself as an artist, but also about each character and show they were in as I drew them one by one.
There are so many things that were looked over when I grew up with a handful of them. But now that I am older and less afraid of some of these characters (some are still scary for me, which is alright; I don’t have to be ashamed of saying that out loud), I’ve grown appreciation for every little thing these iconic characters were able to contribute to the world of Horror and Halloween.
I’m hoping next year, I will encounter more legends along the way and be able to share their influence and impact with like-minded people who are curious and kind enough to learn a thing of two in the process.
